Misfortunes Strikes Good People Because It Is A Life Lesson of Making A Good Person Great!

bad_things_happened_good_person _cryingI hear so many people talking about the law of reaping and sowing. Some use the word ‘karma’. They say, bad things happen to bad people and good things happen to good people. Yes, this is true to a greater extent, but we’ve also seen bad situations and bad events happening to those who didn’t harm anybody. These events were beyond their control.

Many people say, “If there is a God; why does He allow good people to suffer?” Another question comes again, “If there is really a God, why does He allow bad people to continue in their ways of wickedness without stopping them?”

Now I can’t speak for God, but I have seen a lot of ‘unfair’ situations taking place in this life. I have also learnt that trying to fight God and asking questions or trying to convince yourself that He doesn’t care or exist will not work! I believe we humans are responsible for most of the events that takes place in this world. We harm one another and destroy each other. But there are events like disabilities from birth, earthquakes and hurricanes that claim lives and this has got nothing to do with us humans. It is something that God alone knows why He permitted it to happen.

How could it be fair, if you are born disabled and get rejected by your family, only to find yourself homeless, begging for money and not knowing why people could be so cruel? How could it be fair if you get raped by people you trusted and you get the blame and get thrown away from your house?

How could it be fair, you just got married and while on your honey moon, your spouse gets murdered? How could it be fair to lose your parents at a younger age and only to get raised by guardians who abuse you? How could it be fair, for a foreign army to invade your town and murder your lovely family for the things they haven’t done? Life is not fair if you look at it that way!

The question is, If someone dies, does it really matter to God that the person physically died? Does it really matter to God about life and death since both the dead and the living are alive to Him? Maybe God is looking to see what we will do to help disabled people. Maybe God is creating a strong character to those who are disabled and those who help them. After all, we don’t know the future since we are not God.

What I know for sure is that, we can never change the events that have already taken place. But we have power to choose how we will react to these events! There are many people who were victims of circumstances in this world;  they didn’t let those circumstances determine their end outcome. They put aside worrying about the past: picked up their pieces and put their lives together.

Anne Sullivan 150x150 Misfortunes Strikes Good People?Allow me to talk about Anne Sullivan. She was unschooled; hot tempered; nearly blind from untreated trachoma by age 7; her mother died when she was 8 years old, was left to deal with her abusive father and maintain their dilapidated home. Two years later Thomas Sullivan, their dad abandoned them. Anne and her brother Jimmie were sent to a care home. Jimmie, who was younger than Anne; was born with a tubercular hip, he died a short time later. Anne spent four years at Tewksbury, enduring the grief of her brother’s death and the disappointment of two unsuccessful eye operations.

The good news is: Anne didn’t kill herself with depression. She didn’t go around preaching the gospel of self pity and the unfairness of God. She grieved for a while and went to school where she quickly learned how to read and write. She persisted in having eye surgeries and her eye sight improved. She didn’t stop there, she decided to make a difference in the world. Anne Sullivan became a tutor and mentor for the blind, and her life experiences helped her to connect to this one particularly difficult blind, deaf, and mute student named Helen Keller.

helen keller 150x150 Misfortunes Strikes Good People?Helen Keller ended up being a great woman and was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. She is an inspiration up to today to those who are disabled and those who are not. Why do bad things happen to good people? Because these events will help them to make this world a better place. That’s what separates the truly good people from those who only think they are good people.

  • Trials and misfortunes comes to make good people great!
  • Trials and misfortunes comes to leave us with wisdom and virtue in life!
